Tui Balms

Our story

Golden Bay, New Zealand

Tui Balms began in 1984, when English beekeeper Colin Iles gifted his natural multi-purpose balm recipe to the Tui Community in Golden Bay, New Zealand. Made by hand in its early years, the range grew with input from massage therapists and naturopaths into a trusted collection of massage and body balms.

Today, Tui Balms operates as a worker-owned co-operative and not-for-profit, providing local employment and donating profits to registered charities. More than 40 years on, it remains a staple among massage therapists, practitioners and households across New Zealand and Australia.

Compostable & Recyclable Packaging. Tui use compostable cardboard pots printed with vegetable-based inks for larger sizes, alongside recyclable aluminium tins and bottles for smaller formats.

Solar-Powered Natural Formulas. Their skincare and massage balms are blended and manufactured using solar energy, with natural bases of certified organic beeswax and plant oils, free from petroleum derivatives and artificial preservatives.

Not-for-Profit Giving. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, they distribute profits to environmental, social and healthcare charities each year.
