Rooftop Bees was founded in 2019 by John Prince, after a 16-year corporate career and a series of life-changing events led him to beekeeping. Created to bring people closer to nature in unexpected places, the brand installs and manages beehives across commercial buildings in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Now Australia’s largest urban beekeeping business, following its acquisition of The Urban Beehive’s beekeeping and honey operations in 2024, Rooftop Bees manages hives for more than 50 leading organisations. Each hive becomes a living reminder of community, interconnection and the small acts that can shift us towards a more sustainable future.
