Candle Care and Safety Tips
How to tend your flame: A practice in attention
- Candle care is simple ritual. Small acts that honour the material and extend its life. Use these steps each time you burn your candle.
- Place the pillar on a heat-proof dish or candleholder and on a stable, heat-proof surface*
- Remove any paper labels
- Trim the wick to 5–7 mm before each burn
- Burn for at least 2 hours, or until the melt pool reaches the edge, to prevent tunnelling and extend burn life
- Keep away from drafts, children, pets and flammable materials
- Never leave a candle unattended
- Avoid moving a lit or hot candle
*TIP: To remove residual beeswax from a candleholder simply put the candleholder in the freezer for 20 minutes. Remove the dish and insert a metal skewer into the cold wax. Twist the skewer and pull out the wax.
Why beeswax? The case for purity
The world is waking up to scented candles
Paraffin candles are petroleum-derived and release known carcinogens like benzene and toluene when burned. Soy candles are cleaner than paraffin but often contain synthetic fragrances and chemical stabilisers. The only alternative for a truly safe, clean burn is beeswax.
Naturally non-toxic and clean burning
Pure beeswax burns cleanly without additives or synthetic fragrance. As it burns, it can act as a natural ioniser, helping to neutralise airborne impurities and support a purer indoor environment.
A brighter, warmer flame
Beeswax burns at a higher melting point than other common waxes, creating a brighter, steadier flame. Its warm golden glow sits in the same light spectrum as the setting sun, offering a naturally soothing ambience.
A subtle natural honey scent
The gentle aroma comes directly from the hive. No added fragrance, just the soft scent created by the bees themselves.
A longer, more consistent burn
Beeswax typically burns up to 50 percent longer than similar-sized candles made with other wax types.
